“‘It’s so cozy, just we two.’”
This book tells the story of Amanda and Miranda, two panda sisters who live with their mother in a zoo and love to eat bamboo. The family is able to see other animals’ exhibits and compare what those animals eat to their beloved bamboo.
At one point the sisters get a little too playful with each other and begin to fight, deciding to play alone rather than with each other. Their separation does not last long however as each sister begins to miss the other, and they are best friends again by dinner.
Bamboo for Me, Bamboo for You! is a charming book full of color from page to page. All the animals have expressive faces and the habitats are striking; it is only with subtle details (such as the outline of fence railing in the background) that you realize they are actually in a zoo.
I definitely recommend this book for your next family story time, especially if there are siblings at home. The story emphasizes how much more fun things are when siblings are getting along, just as Amanda and Miranda discovered.
