I was captivated by this beautiful, yet simple story with charming illustrations.  After being uprooted and moving from the countryside to the city, Mae is sad and lonely.  She longs to chase butterflies and listen to birds.  She misses growing things.  Soon she and her mother discover a park and a tropical forest displayed in a florist’s window.  Mae finds a small plant sprouting under the window which gives her the start of her own garden.  As Mae’s garden blooms it attracts many new friends.
