Peg + Cat – The Big Dog Problem

Peg + Cat – The Big Dog Problem

Jennifer Oxley and Billy Aronson

This early reader is based on the Emmy Award-winning animated TV series created by Jennifer Oxley and Billy Aronson and produced by The Fred Rogers Company.  Peg and Cat have been given the very grown up task by Peg’s mother of mailing four important letters and one really important letter.  Peg and Cat are sure that they are up to the challenge.  However, when they get to the mailbox they see a big dog sitting in front of it.  How will they get around this scary looking animal and mail the letters?  They need to come up with a solution before the mail truck arrives.  If they can’t mail the letters, Peg’s mom won’t ask them to do a grown-up task again.

Young readers will enjoy reading the antics of Peg and Cat as they try to solve their problem.  The colorful illustrations nicely complement the story of this early reader.  I really loved the pencil drawings that Peg made of each of their plans.  They made me laugh.
