Fans of Christi Matheson’s popular title, TAP THE MAGIC TREE, will not be disappointed by her latest picture book. The author encourages children to participate in the gardening process. Children can press the seeds down, sprinkle water on the seeds, and clap to bring out the sun. Cute garden animals also make an appearance in the story. Butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds grace the last spread. This interactive format is sure to keep children engaged in the story. The story comes full circle when the flowers that grow in the garden release their seeds. The book is best for one-on-one sharing. It might be hard for children in a story time setting to participate.
Instructions for growing zinnias at the end of the book is a nice addition.
