Parents, don’t let the “for Kids” fool you, this book can produce a “real” garden, full of beauty and healthy edibles, while providing fresh air, exercise, and focus for kids. Not to mention that gardening is also therapeutically calming and intellectually stimulating. What more could you ask for! I like how the author teaches us gardening basics such as plant parts, plant types, and watering—just enough to make us confident young gardeners without making us bored or intimidated. Next, I love how the author broke the gardening activities into easy-to-do labs. (Some older children could even do these labs on their own). I especially like that it is not necessary to do the labs in order. Children can do one or two quick labs as an introduction to gardening and feel a sense of accomplishment right away; or, children can do as many labs as they want and become full-fledged gardeners.
