A storytime-approved book with a matching craft? It must be time for Library Make!
This episode’s craft can help develop multiple skills in your child! First up: reading comprehension. Talking about books you read with your child can be just as important as actually reading them. Discussing what happened and why, what your child liked, didn’t like and so on develops a reading comprehension, or the ability to understand and think about what you’ve read. It’s also important for kids to learn how to name different emotions, both for their safety and their self-control.
This craft combines these skills into a cute feelings puppet based on Jeremy Tankard’s book, Grumpy Bird, and will have your child discussing feelings as well as the book. Watch the video below to make your own, or read the instructions and print templates with these printable instruction sheets.
